About the Show: *Anne of Green Gardens is a new television show filmed at a small, independent TV studio in the Central Valley of California. The station is operated by local people who believe in public television. Anne contacted them in May of 2010 and the studio liked the idea of a garden show and decided to take it on as a project.  The producer (as well as editor) is George Baker and the director is Louise Baker. The film crew is made up of volunteers who are paid in pizza.

AnneAbout Anne: Anne grew up picking peas and planting flowers alongside her grandfather, and during this time she became curious about the plant world. She studied horticulture in junior college, and then went on to receive a bachelors degree in Environmental Horticultural Science from Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo. After this, she went to UC Davis for a masters in Community Development.

For a few brief years, Anne had a fun job working with plants and people until budget cuts in 2008.  Anne wondered how she could continue to learn and be an educator in her field, so she contacted the TV station.

Before pursuing horticulture, Anne was a theater major, so she decided to put the two together. Strangely enough, she enjoys public speaking.  Writing and appearing in the show is exciting, although Anne admits that being on camera can give her heart palpitations!

Other interests: school and community gardens, writing, bugs (aka insects), her cat, and spending time with friends and family.

*Anne’s mom (Teresa) grew up reading the Anne of Green Gables books and decided to name her daughter after the main character.
