I created a salad garden with several varieties of lettuce, carrots, and beet seeds, onion transplants and a few cloves of garlic. I’ve tried to cram as many things into my planter as possible as you can see!
This year has been unseasonably warm, and the planting mix was drying out too quickly. So, I covered the seeds with a piece of cardboard after watering. I did the same for the other seeds, and by the time they germinated and began growing things cooled down. The main thing is the mix isn’t drying out before I get home for work.
In my next post I’ll talk about how I planted the seeds. In many areas it’s not too late to start a salad garden. Stay tuned!
